In 1986, I received a BA in Philosophy from UC Berkeley; in 1990, an MA in Philosophy from San Francisco State University, and in 1999, an MFA from John F. Kennedy University. I was awarded the Susan Seddon-Boulet Fellowship award for my art in June, 2000.

My work is primarily inspired by nature and is primarily made with acrylic paint and mediums on canvas. Occasionally, I incorporate natural papers and sumi ink in addition to the acrylic painting. I have been showing and selling my paintings at Valley Art Gallery in Walnut Creek, CA, since 1999 and at Blue Sky Gallery in Willits, CA since early 2001 in addition to my other exhibitions.

My abstract landscapes and seascapes are usually composed of two main color fields – the upper field representing the sky and the lower field representing the land or a body of water. My style is a blend of abstract expressionism and minimalism and although my subjects are most often landscapes and seascapes which are initially inspired by my experience of land, water, and sky, I work solely in the studio and by way of memory and imagination in the creation of these paintings rather than from sketches, photographs, or directly in a natural setting.
